Washington’s Luminaries of the Fashion, Polo, Philanthropy and Social Scene Present:  Adult Swim: A Dare to Be Fashionably Courageous’

A Poolside Fashion Show to Benefit the Courage Cup

Washington, D.C. – On Sunday, August 23, 2009 at the Liaison, an Affinia Hotel at 415 New Jersey Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20001.  Some of the ‘Who’s Who’ in the Washington, D.C. Social, Fashion, Polo and Philanthropy scene will gather together to present Adult Swim: A Dare to Be Fashionably Courageous,’ a charity fashion show to benefit the non-profit organization, The Courage Cup- an IRS designated 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation which was established to help at-risk urban youth by supporting and raising awareness for programs in the mid-Atlantic region which give disadvantaged children individualized attention and a positive alternative activity to keep them in school and off the streets.

The highlight of the event will be a one-of-a-kind summer swimwear fashion show where models, Washington’s Wizard Girls and Washington Post Live host, Ivan Carter will be strutting the runway in high-end swimwear designs from local chic luxury boutique, SyLene and fine designer jewelry from Mystique Jewelers, including pieces by Award-winning designer, Alberto Parada who will be in attendance. Additionally, models will be glammed up by celebrity hairstylist team of Ted Gibson Salon. Some of Washington’s best are expected to attend including philanthropist and model, Katie Rost and Rynthia Rost, VP of Public Affairs at GEICO. Masters of ceremonies will be honored by the fabulous Face of DC 50 CW’s Paul Wharton, also founder of Evolution Look Online and Capitol Hill CFL Wellness & Aesthetics Spa.

"We hope that ‘Adult Swim: A Dare to Be Fashionably Courageous will not only raise a great deal of money, but that it will also raise awareness for the great importance of programs designed to give at-risk youth a positive after-school activity. The Courage Cup has recently expanded its mission to include the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, and Loudon Do Something Now as beneficiaries, in addition to Sierra Club's Inner City Outings in Washington, DC and Work to Ride in Philadelphia, PA. Our Leadership Committee looks forward to working with GEICO, The Rost Foundation, and these new beneficiaries in hosting The Courage Cup, the grand summer polo event that is enjoyed by so many again next year,” said Andrea Rodgers, President and CEO of the Courage Cup.

The roof top pool parties have been one of the most talked about Sunday parties in the District, bringing over 400 Washingtonians out every Sunday to experience a ‘South Beach’ style event Capitol side at the Liaison’s beautiful roof top pool. According to the Washington Post, “no one has managed to bring the high-end lounge atmosphere alfresco like the creators of Adult Swim, the Sunday afternoon party atop the Hill's Liaison hotel. “ This Sunday’s event will not fail to bring that “high-end lounge atmosphere alfresco” once again. A suggested donation of $10-$20 will be asked at the door from 1p.m- 3p.m with proceeds from the event going to benefit The Courage Cup, for more information go to www.dcpoolparty.com.
