Model, Mathew L. Hebert

The DC fashionistas were out to support Luke's Wings through the Fashion Takes Flight event last Wednesday, February 25th. Rodrigo Garcia, owner of L2 Lounge, made his venue available for a night of charity and social excitement over local fashion design and trends. The red carpet presented fabulous designs by Aidah Collection, Mi Chiamo Eka, We One You Two, Iky Clothing and more. There were plenty of photogs prancing around the models capturing every turn and sashay, even club owner Rodrigo had to brave the crowd to get a good shot! The night was fun and a success. The best part for me was seeing Sgt. John Moore, a recovering soldier, deliver his gratitude and telling the crowd that events like this made it possible for him to see his family, who would be arriving the following morning. Now that is instant return on community effectiveness! Thanks to Rodrigo Garcia, Fletcher Gill, Kate Michael as emcee, the host committee, the models, the sponsors, the designers and boutiques that contributed to making the event possible!

Be sure to view the WUSA 9 segement on Sgt. John Moore, Luke's Wings and Fletcher Gill. (Thanks Nicole Siobal!)

Another great event to support the Washington Humane Society on February 12th. Angie Goff (WUSA 9 Traffic Anchor) and Krista Johnson (CW's Blonde Charity Mafia) hosted a fundraiser for the cause at Skye Lounge and boy were the socialites and local celebs out that night! I caught up with Angie and Krista while they were thanking everyone in between photo ops. Also on the scene was new reporter to WUSA 9, Lindsey Mastis, James Packard-Gomez (CEO of Erwin Gomez Salon & Spa), Wil "Onix" Lash (Star on VH-1 'I Love Money 2') to name a few.  Wil, I'll make a special stop to say hi to you next time we meet! The night was fun and it was good to see my Germantown buddy, Berrie (Skye Lounge GM) and fav bartender doing their thing in DC. According to Angie the event was a success and many thanks to Christina Holden, Skye Lounge Event Coordinator. I'm sure the March 28th event, Fashion For Paws,  will be a dazzling success with all the models and sponsors expected to be attendance.

DJ Neekola Blog

DJ Neekola now has her "pink book" open for fans with her new blog layout at http://djneekola.blogspot.com. She is an International DJ spinning the best in house, electro, trance and dance music from fashion events, charity events down to the sleek nightlife lounges in the DC nightlife scene. The last time I checked she was having the blog overhauled and I could not get in the site. So I sent over a Facebook message and found she started a Fan Page (I was the first fan) and we would have to wait on the blog access until it was updated.

The blog is here, live and in effect with a few posts to get us started in the life and times of DJ Neekola. Be sure to send her a message on Facebook and tell her Nightlife PR sent you over to check out the "pink book" blog, she loves pink. You should see her laptop!

[UPDATE]: Hot news to check out: See DJ Neekola's revamped website! Stop by www.djneekola.com and see what's been going on in her music life. And best of all, she is live on Twitter!

Twestival DC

The DC Twestival event was a fun success for local Twestival coordinator and volunteer, Peter LaMotte! A night of charity started on the microblogging social network, Twitter, brought together around 200+ local technology professionals, marketing and PR professionals, bloggers, journalists and photographers, including local news Fox 5 to Local 16. We managed to raise over $1000 for Charity: Water! The gloabal event goal was to reach $1 million and so far the totals are showing $250,000. With 202 cities participating and over 10,000 people world-wide this amount will provide for 55 water projects that will bring 17,000 people clean, safe drinking water. Check the Twestival website for the latest totals as some counts are still coming in for appropriate statistics. The global organizer, Amanda Rose, also posted information on Mashable.

A huge thanks to Peter LaMotte and all volunteers for putting our nation's capitol on the Twestival map! Next year will be tremendous and I look forward to more local support and coverage for such an epic charity.

Ebong Eka celebrated his birthday this year at Fly Lounge, Friday, Feb 13th!
